A Peer Dropping During Keygen or Funding
What actually happens, and when you need to retry.
keygen and dfund are ceremonies every member participates in. Real networks aren't perfectly
reliable, so both are built to tolerate brief drops rather than fail on the first hiccup.
Ceremonies tolerate stragglers
keygen and dfund re-announce for a while, so a briefly-disconnected peer catches up on its
own. Don't retype commands the moment one peer looks stuck.
When to actually retry
If keygen makes no progress for a couple of minutes, Ctrl-C every node and retry. There's no
partial-success state to resume from; a retry starts the ceremony fresh.
Practical guidance
Make sure every participant has a stable connection before starting bootstrap or typing
keygen, especially for larger groups, where the odds of one participant dropping mid-ceremony
rise with group size.
